I developed an early draft of this research article while taking a Disabilities Studies course during graduate school. I’ve revised many times over the years, aiming with each revision to clarify language, develop the argument and examples, and strengthen my own voice among the voices of the many theorists I cite throughout. The draft below is the fullest, and strongest, version of the article to date.
